Methodology of Estimation of Subjective Quality of Life of Patients with Ophthalmological Diseases

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to approbate the developed methodology for assessing the subjective quality of life ofpeople with severe ophthalmic diseases.Materials and methods of research. The collection of empirical data was carried out using e-mail, the Skype programand the social network Vkontakte. As the diagnostic tool used the author's methodology Assessment of the subjectivequality of life of persons with profound visual impairment. The questionnaire consists of a block with personal data and 11questions / statements reflecting the subjective quality of life. Ball score was made on an ordinal scale (from -2 to 2 points).Results. In the course of the study, the features of the subjective evaluation of the quality of life and the nature of therelationship to its individual aspects in two groups of respondents are revealed: in the totally blind and in patients with ophthalmologicdiseases that have residual vision. It has been established that the totally blind assess their quality of life higherthan those with residual vision: the total quality of life measures were 6.5 points in the group of totally blind and 1.6 points inthe group of visually impaired people with residual vision respectively (p<0.01).Conclusion. Statistically significant differences in the quality of life indicators of patients with different severity of visualdisturbances are revealed, which testify to the criterial validity of the developed technique.
