Medical rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy: application of the international classification of functioning, disability and health (children and youth version)

ABSTRACT

The international classification of functioning, disability and health (children and youth version) (ICF-CY) is currently used todescribe and measure the extent of children’s health problems. This classification makes it possible to unify the determinationof the individual profile of the child taking into account environmental and personal factors, to assess changes in healthdisorders in the process of rehabilitation. The ICF-CY is used for patients with cerebral palsy. The article presents the methodologyof the ICF-CY application, describes the problems that complicate the practical application of the classification, andpresents a clinical example of the ICF-CY use in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.
