Rationale for neurologists studying the international classification of functioning, disability and health in continuing medical education

ABSTRACT

Objective: determining the appropriateness of studying the International Classifi cation of Functioning, Disability andHealth by neurologists in the system of continuing medical education. Materials and methods. Questionnaire of 380 neurologistsstudying in continuing education courses. The standardized questionnaire included characteristics for identifyinggroups (work experience as a neurologist, category availability, academic degree, place of work) and test questions. A frequencyanalysis, calculation of the average score, a comparative analysis of percentages and means in the selected groups,a correlation analysis of the experience and awareness of the respondents were performed. Results: 319 (83,9%) of respondentsare aware of the classifi cation. The average test score in this group was 3,5± 2.4, and the maximum score (6) scored 108(33,9%) people. The awareness of persons with academic degree, working in specialized medical organizations participatingin scientifi c research is much higher than among respondents without a scientifi c degree (t = 5,5), not working in specializedorganizations (t = 11.1), not participating in scientifi c work (t = 9.7).Awareness depends on experience rs = 0.2. Conclusion.Selective awareness of the respondents about the classifi cation indicates the advisability of presenting ICF modules of variousinformativeness in the system of continuing medical education.
