ABSTRACT

Treatment (surgical and conservative) is very effective in idiopathic normotensive hydrocephalus (iNPH), characterizedby the expansion of the ventricles of the brain with normal or slightly increased intracranial pressure. Most often, iNPHobserved in the elderly over 65-70 years with clinical manifestations of the triad of Hakim-Adams (memory, gait andurination). For the diagnosis of INH and the resolution of the question of adequate therapy, it is essential to study thepathophysiological mechanisms of this clinical form. However, the question of the mechanisms of the appearance of the iNPH remains to this day unclear. Among thevarious etiological factors that lead to the development of iNPH, the leading role is played by violations of the venouscirculation of the brain.Given that the cerebral volume of blood is 80% of venous blood, three quarters of which is in small veins and venules, the evaluation of the venous circulation of the brain is of the greatest importance, in which gravitational influences play aleading role. The purpose of this study was to study cerebrovenous orthostatic reactivity (CVOR) in idiopathic normotensivehydrocephalus.

KEYWORDS: dementia, hydrocephalus, venous blood circulation of the brain.
