Jubilee of Mikhail V. Nikitin
26 January 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of Mikhail Vladimirovich Nikitin, Doctor of Science (Medicine), Doctor of Science (Economics), Advisor to the Director General of the National Medical Research Center for Rehabilitation and Balneology.
Mikhail Vladimirovich was born on 26 January 1956. After completing a medical college and military service, he became a student at Kuban Medical Institute named after the Red Army, graduating from it in 1984.
Mikhail Vladimirovich has devoted his entire career to balneology, working for many years as the head of Vulan health resort complex — a research and clinical branch of National Medical Research Center for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Ministry of Health of Russia. His professional interests lie in economics, management and development of the resort industry and resort complexes in the Russian Federation. Under his leadership, scientific research is conducted on the pathogenetic rationale for the use of resort factors in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, obesity and metabolic syndrome, osteoarthritis and bronchopulmonary pathology, which includes paediatric cases. Mikhail Vladimirovich is the author of more than 150 scientific works, including methodological guidelines and collections. He has supervised 1 doctoral and 8 Ph.D. theses in Medicine and 7 Ph.D. theses in Economics.
Having become a chief external expert of the Russian Ministry of Health in health resort treatment in 2018, Mikhail Vladimirovich Nikitin has done a great deal to implement the development strategy for the health resort complex of the Russian Federation, improving the regulatory framework for the industry, including the development of a classification of natural therapeutic resources, and promoting health resort treatment among the Russian population.
As a member of the Scientific and Practical Council of the Russian Ministry of Health, Mikhail Vladimirovich is in constant contact with non-profit professional communities regarding the preparation of Section VIII of the standard form of clinical recommendations: “Medical rehabilitation and health resort treatment, medical indications and contraindications for the use of medical rehabilitation methods, including those based on the use of natural therapeutic factors”.
Mikhail Vladimirovich has a commendable ability to balance scientific and clinical work with social and political activities. Over the years, he has dedicated his time and efforts as a full-time chairman of the town council of people’s deputies, was elected a deputy of the Arkhipo-Osipovska town council, and a deputy of the council of people’s deputies of the resort town of Gelendzhik. Nikitin M.V. is a distinguished healthcare professional, an honoured worker in the field of resorts and tourism in Kuban, and an honorary citizen of Gelendzhik resort town.
Mikhail Vladimirovich has been honoured with several prestigious medals, such as “For Merit to Domestic Healthcare”, “For Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Krasnodar Territory, 1st Class”, and “Rear to the Front”. In addition to these medals, he has received a Letter of Thanks from the State Duma Health Protection Committee, among other accolades.
It is also important to acknowledge not only Mikhail Vladimirovich’s significant professional accomplishments, but also his noteworthy personal attributes: responsiveness, reliability, warmth, zest for life, and optimism. He enjoys unquestionable authority among his employees and colleagues.
